My name is Jo Brecknell, I am a fully qualified and accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have worked as a volunteer Counsellor and Psychotherapist for Carlow Rape Crisis Centre and have my private counselling room in Tullamoy, Stradbally, Co Laois.

I cover such issues as abuse, rape, child sexual abuse, family counselling, couple counselling, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship problems, work problems, sexual issues and any other issue you bring to me.

Counselling and Psychotherapy can be a useful tool to use if you are struggling with any issues in your life. Be nice to yourself, book yourself a session and use the time to focus on you.

My Approach

I am a person centred counsellor, I believe everyone has the resources within themselves to make changes in their life. I offer my clients a safe, non-judgemental space in which they can feel free to express their feelings and emotions in a way that feels comfortable for them. In this way healing should occur. However, I will also integrate other forms of therapy such as Choice Therapy, Reality Therapy,  CBT etc where necessary in order to provide the best chance for each individual client to heal and move forward.

Here are some of the issues I work with

Bereavement

Childhood Issues

Couples and family issues
